  7. In order to play The Psychotron you must have a Sigma Designs ReelMagic card
  8. in your computer and the ReelMagic MCI driver (version 1.1 or later)
  9. must be operational under Windows 3.1.
  10.  
  11. Consult your ReelMagic board's documentation for instructions on installing
  12. the driver.
  13.  
  14. An easy way to check if the driver is loaded properly under Windows is to
  15. click on your Media Player icon in the Window's accessories group and check
  16. the device pull down menu list.  You should see ReelMagic as an option on
  17. this list.

  20. If you have version 1.1 of the ReelMagic drivers, check the date on the
  21. file MCIFMP.DRV in your REELMAGC directory.  Improvements in video 
  22. performance can be achieved by using the MCIFMP.DRV supplied on this CD ROM
  23. dated 5-13-94.  If your file is dated prior to 5-13-94, you may use
  24. program manager to copy MCIFMP.DRV from the directory -
  25.  
  26. (CD ROM DRIVE LETTER):\PSYCHORM\REELMAG\ to your REELMAGC directory.
  27. Be sure to re-boot your system when you make this change.

  29. If you do not have version 1.1 of the ReelMagic driver, use setup.exe from
  30. the directory (CD ROM DRIVE LETTER):\PSYCHORM\REELMAG. We have provided the
  31. ReelMagic installation program version 1.1 with the most recent drivers.

  35. MIDI Music
  36.  
  37. The Psychotron MIDI files are programmed in Extended MIDI.  This means the
  38. instruments are in channels 1 thru 10.  The drums are in channel 10.
  39. To play these MIDI files you must set the MIDI mapper in your Windows
  40. Control Panel so the source channels (1 to 10) are mapped to your midi
  41. sound device and source channel 10 is mapped to the drum channel
  42. (usually channel 10 or 16).

  47. For a brief moment the creator of The Psychotron had a flash of conscience.
  48. He decided not to perpetuate the vision of a ten year old sitting alone in
  49. front of a computer for twelve hours a day drinking some artificially
  50. flavored drink and then trying to bribe someone with game cartridges to
  51. kill a classmate.
  52.  
  53. So, it is valuable to play with others rather than just playing with
  54. yourself.
  55.  
  56. The Psychotron keeps score based on good, educated questioning.  Each
  57. character that you may encounter has a maximum score associated with them.
  58. In each scene, every player has an opportunity to score the same amount of
  59. points.  If you die, all your points are taken away.  At the end of the
  60. game, the player with the most points plays the last scene.
